7:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M.
MONROE COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Life Science Building, Lecture Hall #140
1555 S. Raisinville Road, Monroe, MI
In conjunction with the National Weather Service (NWS), Emergency Management Division and Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Services (RACES), volunteer Skywarn Spotters work diligently to provide and confirm the earliest signs of possible severe weather. Although the NWS has improved their ability to detect severe thunderstorms over the past twenty years, the human eye is one of the most valuable resources to local emergency management offices and the NWS.
Public safety officials, RACES members, or concerned citizens who want to raise their level of awareness regarding severe weather should consider attending both the Skywarn Spotter and the Winter Weather Spotter training classes.
Handouts will not be available at the training. The Weather Spotters Field Guide is available only online at: http://www.nws.noaa.gov/om/brochures/SGJune6-11.pdf. The Thunderstorm, Tornadoes and Lightning Guide is available at: http://www.nws.noaa.gov/om/severeweather/resources/ttl6-10.pdf.
