The office of County Treasurer was established by the Michigan State Constitution. The Treasurer is an elected official and serves a 4-year term. The duties and powers of the County Treasurer are provided by state law.
The County Treasurer is the custodian of all county funds, and is responsible for the collection of delinquent real property taxes. This includes the foreclosure and sale of property for the non-payment of taxes.
