The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community.
Monroe County currently has two established CERT programs: Bedford CERT and Monroe Township CERT. If you are interested in joining either team, please contact that particular team by the following method:

Upcoming CERT Exercise
An Exercise in Triage will be conducted on Saturday, November 5th from 10 am to 2 pm at:

You must be either CERT trained or MRC trained to take part in this exercise. Volunteers are needed to play victims - you do not need any prior training to participate as a victim only. Registrations are due by November 1.
NOTE: The exercise scheduled for November 5th has been canceled; another exercise is being planned for Sunday, November 20. If you've already registered, you will be receiving information on this change. Registrations are still being accepted.
