Career Development Resources
The Monroe Service Center provides the following services at no-cost to our job seekers: telephones, internet access, copies of resumes, fax services, postage, job search books, typing and Microsoft Office tutorials, computer based self-assessments and career interests surveys. Job seekers can also obtain information and referrals to partnering Monroe County agencies.
Individuals can access a variety of resources in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), such as an adjustable computer table, an alternate keyboard, JAWS text reading, a scanner, and Word Q software.
Career Assessment & Counseling
Job seekers can access a skills assessment to explore possible career avenues. A licensed professional counselor is available to develop a plan of action based on skills and employment goals. Referrals to partnering agencies can be made to help with achieving those goals.
Career Tracks / Job Readiness Workshops
Staff assists in developing skills critical to an effective job search. Daily workshops provide a variety of essential job search topics, such as Interview Skills, Resume Writing, Dress for Success, Building Self Esteem, and Attitude is Everything. Community Partners also present topics on financial savvy and parenting resources/organizational skills.
Fast Track Your Success Through an Information Session!
Attend an Information Session to learn more about services offered at the Monroe Service Center. Qualified staff members will meet with you individually to begin building a plan for success whether it includes classroom training, on-the-job training or one-one-one job search assistance. Information Sessions are held on Tuesdays at 9 am and Thursdays at 2 pm. No appointment is necessary.
