The detectives assigned to the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) are highly trained investigators who conduct and coordinate advanced/comprehensive criminal investigations such as homicides, rape, robbery, firearms offenses, and missing persons.
When called upon, the SIU detectives assist the Uniform Services Division with other crimes such as serial home invasions, larcenies, and other advanced investigations. SIU also provides investigative assistance and/or takes over complex investigations for the local municipal police agencies when requested.
In addition, the detectives specialize in digital forensic technology and are trained medical examiner investigators for the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office.
