Transportation Services

Community transportation is vital to our quality of life, particularly for many older
adults and people with disabilities. When an individual can no longer meet their
transportation needs independently, they become reliant on others to meet
those needs in order to remain connected to the community.

Seniors who use a wheelchair or have other mobility impairments should
call well in advance of their scheduled appointment, to ensure
the availability of handicapped-accessible transportation.

Monroe Community Ambulance
Emergency Ambulance Service Dial 9-1-1

Health Van provides door to door service for persons going to any non-emergency appointments. Transportation is scheduled by appointment only and 72 hours advance notice is requested. Transportation service can be scheduled morning through evening hours, seven days a week. For more information or to schedule a ride, please call 734-850-6045.

Lake Erie Transit is Monroe County’s only public transportation that offers a variety of safe and easily accessible transportation services. All of the buses are lift-equipped. In addition to the 8 Fixed Routes, the Frenchtown and Bedford Dial-A-Rides, and the ADA service, there is the ETS service (Essential Transportation Service). ETS is a door to door service specifically for older residents 60+ and for the disabled. ETS may be used for any purpose after providing a 48-hour advanced notice.
