What are the recording fees?
Effective October 1, 2016 in the State of Michigan
The recording fee for a deed, mortgage, lis pendens or any other real estate instrument is-$30
Regardless of the number of pages, all documents will cost $30.00 to record, this cost is inclusive of Michigan Remonumentation and Register of Deeds Automation fees.
For a document that assigns or discharges more than 1 instrument $3.00 for each instrument assigned or discharged (in addition to the $30.00 flat fee). The only exception is if a document is from the State of Michigan or a political subdivision of the State to a Land Bank Authority.
To certify a recorded document $5.00; copies remain at $1.00 per page.

How do I find who owns certain property?
If you do not know the property owner's name, you may contact the County Equalization
Department or City Assessor's Office. These offices will provide you with the
name(s) that appear on the tax roll, which may or may not be the owner(s). With these names, you can then search our office for any recorded information. If you have a name and approximate year to search, our office may provide you with recorded information.
How do I search for a deed?
You need a grantor or grantee name to search any land record information and you
should have an approximate year to search. Our office cannot search ownership by address.
What are the hours of the Register of Deeds Office?
The office is open Monday Through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. real and personal property documents presented after 3:30 p.m. will be recorded or filed on the following working day.
